The French coast stretches over 5,000 kilometers. Sailing areas in France are: Côte d'Azur, Corsica, Gulf of Lion. The sailing season lasts from May to October. Mainly for sporty sailors. 

Advantages:

  • No sailing license necessary
  • Challenge for experienced skippers and sport sailors
  • Mediterranean climate (25°C to 30°C in summer)
  • Good connection to the marinas

What to expect when sailing in France:

  • Côte d'Azur: Easiest sailing area, many marinas and anchorages
  • Corsica: For experienced sailors
  • Gulf of Lion: stormy and therefore for sailing enthusiasts 
  • Winds: Mistral and Libeccio
  • Average wind force: 3 to 4 Beaufort

BOATICO tip:

Be sure to reserve an anchorage, especially in July and August. And don’t be fooled: you don't need a sailing license in France, but the area is not well suited for beginners.
